Give Yourself Permission To Rest

As busy women, we wear many hats so giving ourselves some kindness and nurturing and allowing for our mind and body to regularly rest, recharge and reenergise, is CRUCIAL to our long term health and happiness – ESPECIALLY coming into this BUSY time of year. 
Not showing up for yourself can put a serious draaaaaiiiinnn on your body, mind and festive spirit!

12 restful ideas that don’t require you to leave the house:

Keep in mind by RESTING I’m talking about doing activities that are ‘UNPRODUCTIVE’… It’s not ticking anything off your list, it’s doing an activity purely for it’s REST FACTOR. I liken RESTFUL activities to to ‘SWITCHING YOUR PHONE OFF’ or ‘REBOOTING’ your computer.
  • Taking some time for solitude (ie. hide in the bedroom or take a long shower)
  • Reading a book (I highly recommend reading poetry or fiction)
  • Breath work, Meditation or Body scan
  • Journaling
  • Colouring or scribbling
  • Doing a few simple stretches (don’t overthink it, just move your body gently.)
  • Sipping a hot tea
  • Make a simple nurturing snack or meal (one of my simple go-tos in Spring/Summer is making a green smoothie)
  • Playing with pets or watching pets play
  • Grabbing a picnic blanket and laying under a tree on the back lawn, watching the leaves move in the breeze
  • Listening to a light hearted podcast or music you enjoy
  • Doing a jigsaw puzzle
