10 At Home Winter School Holiday Activity Ideas For Young Kids

July 3, 2022

From bridge building, to bliss ball making and squiggley fun – heres 10 quick and simple winter holiday activity ideas for young kids.

In all honesty, some children will sit and do these kinds of things happily for hours, others will be lucky to last 5mins unless you actively engage with the activity too. Personally speaking, Koda would happily build and play with cars much longer than he would sit and draw or craft on his own. Typically I’d attempt to break these activities up into smaller chunks – stopping for drink breaks, movement breaks or snack breaks along the way. For example:

  • For ‘BUILD A BRIDGE’ we’d draw the river, then take a break. Then he’d build the bridge and play for a bit.
  • For MR SQUIGGLE I’d do a few rounds with him. I’d draw two shapes, then he’d finish the drawing. He’d draw two shapes, then I’d finish the drawing. Then we’d take a snack break. Then, I’d draw two shapes on the next 3 pages and he’d have a go at making his way through them. At the end he’d pick his favourite creation and we’d stick it on the fridge.

I’d love to know if you give any of these a go! Be sure to share to your socials and tag us, or DM me your winter activity wins.

May the force be with you Mamma!
